Diploma program in Clinical Medicine and Surgery offered at International School of Medicine and Applied Technology help train students who will emerge as Clinical officers that provide curative and preventive medical services as well as diagnostic and advisory services to human population. International School of Medicine and Applied Technology is a tertiary college located at the top of Riat hills 8 kilometers from Kisumu town along Kisumu Kakamega road.

The college offers training in Applied and health Sciences and Information technology. ISMAT was started in 2006 with a core aim of making quality training of healthcare practitioners more affordable and accessible. The college has fully fulfilled the clinical officer council requirements and is approved to offer diploma program in Clinical medicine and surgery.

Training in clinical medicine and surgery at ISMAT is based on the clinical medicineand surgery training act CAP 260 and involves training in basic sciences,nursing, clinical skills as well as experience in basic diagnostic laboratory for one year. This is followed by training in clinical skills in the second year then rotation in various sectionsin various departments in the final year.This program is run at Mamboleo Campus in the school of health sciences. Accommodation is available to ‘freshas’ though students can stay outside the campus or even in Kisumu with transport provided by the college van.

Admission Requirements:

For one to qualify for a diploma program in Clinical Medicine and Surgery at ISMAT, he/she should have a minimum mean grade of Cplain or equivalent with a minimum of C in mandatory subjects (English, Kiswahili and Biology). He/ she should also have a C plain grade in any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
