Kenya Online Dating: Is It For Kenyans or Is It A Foreign Concept?

Single, lonely, tired of watching couples all around you in Kenya frolicking away all smiles and all you do is cringe? Most of us Kenyans are all there, stuck in a rut. Most Kenyans have tried dating in Kenya, and most of these Kenyans cannot get the right dating partner in Kenya. Of late, I have been seeing dating online advertisements in Kenya and mostly for the local Kenyan dating websites giving us hope to meet a soul mate online.

As a typical traditional Kenyan with Luhya blood streaming through me, online dating in Kenya is however a foreign concept. Whom will I meet online to date in the Kenyan Websites? Why are the potential dating partners in Kenya searching online? Anyway, this online dating concept in Kenya gets me thinking whether it’s that hard to find a dating mate in Kenya. I think I prefer the old school style of bumping into a Karanja or Okello at the bus stop in Kenya and hitting it off. Or going down to the local clubs in Kenya and making sure my dance floor skills can pop an eye or two.

Dating online in Kenya is traversing into the unknown realms-not knowing who is sitting at the opposite end of the computer typing away. Is what the other person saying about themselves genuine or is it a psychopath hunting for his next victim? Kenyans are fearful of the online dating, though you cannot ignore the new fearless generation who have fresh blood to risk it all and experiment online dating in Kenya. For the Kenyans who are strong enough to start online dating, there are a couple of online dating websites in Kenya which include Dating Guru http://www.onlinedating-guru.com/, Online Dating For Singles kenyancupid.com‎ , and online dating and eating http://www.supermarketguru.com/food-news-today/online-dating-and-eating.html.

Are the concepts of traditional dating in Kenya and online dating in Kenya the same? Or do I just need to get with the times and adjust to the digital era in Kenya? Or probably the online dating in Kenya is just making things too easy for Kenyans, just a click of a button and you have a date in Kenya.

Are we Kenyans just too lazy to put ourselves out there, away from the facade of the internet in Kenya and risk rejection? To answer all my questions, I signed up on a dating site in Kenya as a single and browsed through my potential matches. There was a great variety, eye candy and eye sores. After a few minutes, I decided to chat up a few and it was strange trying to share information about you with a complete stranger online in Kenya.

At the end of it all, I decided that online dating in Kenya and my preferred traditional mode of dating in Kenya could just be the same, personal preference would be the difference. Would you rather have all your possible options a click of a button away or would you prefer the hustle of chasing after your potential partner in Kenya like in the good old days. Well am not referring to chasing the girl down to the river and hoisting her away on your back, but just the plain old game of cat and mouse.

Where To Find A Samsung Care Centre In Nairobi, Kenya

Over the recent past, many people in Kenya have moved from the QWERTY keypad craze to the touch screen frenzy. Basically, everyone in Kenya owns a touch screen phone. There are so many mobile phone companies all over the world manufacturing all sorts of phones with various specifications.

From Techno, to Samsung to Nokia to Sony- people in Kenya are free to choose whichever they please, depending on their style and the kind of features they are looking for. However with the endless choices of phones in Kenya, it is very easy for one to get a counterfeit phone. For instance, phones such as Bird and Forme brands rarely have their spare parts available in Kenya. They are often shipped from as far as China, and this being the case, you cannot get your mobile phone repaired in case of any mishap.

Samsung mobile manufacturer has tried to help out the situation by providing a care center in Nairobi Kenya for its clients. The touch screen phones in Kenya are more gentle and fragile as compared to the models that have keypads. As such, very many mobile phone repairs in Kenya are needed especially for these fragile screens, and where else is better to get a repair than from the manufacturer himself?

Again, most of these phones in Kenya are pretty much expensive. Some smart phones in Nairobi go for as much as KSH 50, 000, and this means that you would not take such a kind of a phone to any Tom Dick and Harry for repair. Better still, the repair needed could fall within the warranty period, and this could mean that you do not have to pay for the repairs done.

There are at least 2 Samsung care centers in Nairobi. Two of the Samsung Care Centres in Nairobi are based in the city center while the third is based in Westlands. The first Samsung care center is found in Westlands along Woodvale groove off Mpaka road. This is the head office of Samsung Manufacturer in Kenya. There is also another Samsung care center within Nairobi city central business district in Hilton Arcade along Kimathi Street in Nairobi town.  You can also find a Samsung shop along Mama Ngina Street, next to Java coffee house in Nairobi, where you can get assistance regarding your Samsung device.

Mobile phone manufacturers such as Nokia also have care centers within Nairobi.

It is high time you stopped taking your mobile phones to quacks for repairs!

Kaa-Rada While In Nairobi; Places To Be Extra Careful Of Muggers In Nairobi, Kenya

Seated in the office in Kenya, my workmate comes in and asks me to lend her my phone. I plug out my earphone and hand her my phone rather bored by the abrupt halt off the discussion heating up on the Classic FM morning Kasheshe show with Maina Kageni and King’ang’i. My work mate Erica makes a call to a friend,

“Hi, I just lost my phone at the bus stop this morning……………..”

Erica then narrates the gory details of how she lost her recently acquired Samsung Galaxy Ace Advance  in Kenya to a thief at the bus stop. She had been on call when someone suddenly hit her phone from behind. By the time she looked back to see who had done that, another thief of the same cohort had already picked the phone and disappeared into the multitude. Erica had saved up a whooping 27,000 Kenyan shillings of her peanut student stipend in Kenya to acquire the phone that she had been longing for, for a long time. Trying to cool her down, I tell her of a similar incidence where my brother got mugged on Chiromo road off the busy Waiyaki way in Nairobi and lost his Samsung Galaxy S II worth 45,000 Kenyan shillings to the thieves in Nairobi.

Phone theft is a very rampant crime in the streets of Nairobi. Just the other day, I almost fell victim to the same. A well dressed lady had opened the outer side pocket of my handbag whilst we were scrambling for a matatu in Nairobi on the crowded Umoja bus terminal along Ronald Ngala Street. Luckily I turned around and caught her before she could put her sticky hands into my bag pocket. The most shocking thing was how smartly she was dressed. Anybody would have passes her off as a normal woman going home after a long day in an office in Nairobi.

Another of my friends got pick pocketed at the Tom Mboya-Accra road junction in Nairobi town and lost her phone and cash. She was lucky enough to meet a friend who paid for her bus fare home.

Being on the streets of Nairobi requires one to be very alert and more so with items such as phones, purses and handbags. Being a crowded city, thieves can snatch your belongings and get into the crowds of people without a trace in Kenya. Areas such as Muthurwa and Gikomba in Nairobi Kenya need one to be extra careful. Thieves in Nairobi in Gikomba and Muthurwa are more “professional” and can even cut out the straps to your bag whilst still carrying it.

I would highly advise anyone not to make or receive any call in these high risk areas in Nairobi if possible. When answering a call in Nairobi, make sure that you are very aware and alert on your surroundings and especially those behind you. Carefully tuck in your phone in your bag or in pockets of a fitting trouser and most importantly, be alert! Lower Nairobi town areas from Riveroad in Nairobi are also a high risk area. Crowded areas in Nairobi such as Kencom, Ngara market and Tea Room in Nairobi should be avoided if possible. If you need to visit these areas in Nairobi, it is wise to be in the company of a friend or two. They will look out for you and warn you of any impending theft.

Be warned!!

Richest county In Kenya

Kajiado is the richest county, according to the government statistics that have exposed the massive disparities in wealth among the country’s regions. Only 12 in every 100 people in kajiado are classified as poor in a country where the average number of people considered not to be rich is 46% of the total population.

Kajiado’s wealth status is radically different from the poorest county, Turkana, where 94% in every 100 resident are considered poor. The findings are contained in the first ever audit of wealth and poverty since the new constitution was passed, with a key accent being the devolution of resources to the counties. According to the report more than half of the people in 23 counties are living below the poverty line underlying the serious differentials in livelihoods.

Kajiado, with 89.4 per cent of its people classified as rich, has displaced Kiambu region which, for decades, was rated the richest area in the country. It’s followed by Nairobi County whose 22.5 people live in poverty, perhaps because of the household in the slums. Kajiado’s riches are concentrated on areas in proximity to Nairobi. They include Ngong, Ongata Rongai, Kitengela, Isinya and Kajiado town but the interior is as poor as any other marginalized areas of the country.

Lamu, the country with the smallest population in the country, 101539 is ranked seventh with only 32.7 percent of its people classified as poor. It’s notable the region has done well despite all the recent   terrorist attacks because of its income from tourism, which some of its neighbour’s lack.

Below is a list of top 5 richest County

How To Date A Nairobi Woman: The Crucial Aspects You Need To Know

Let’s first state the obvious; a Nairobi Woman is well-groomed and beautiful. She is classy…or at least pretends to be. If it’s your first time dating a woman from Nairobi, well be glad I am here to tell you what you should expect and avoid. On your first date, be keen and you will get to know her habits. A Nairobi woman will either ‘eat too much’ or she will ‘eat very little’.  If she eats too much, just don’t express your shock; support her with such phrases as ‘I like a woman who eats well’. If she eats very little, help her out in the name that ‘there are some Kenyans dying of hunger somewhere in north eastern’ or better proceed and ask to be packed the food.

You should know that a Nairobi woman will always, at least mostly do second-hand shopping when single, but when in a relationship, she will want to shop in ‘KFC Nakumatt Junction’, ‘Sarit Centre’, ‘Yaya Centre’, ‘Mr. Price’ and the like. Don’t forget that the same woman claims to be independent. ‘I’m an independent African woman’ and yet she still expects you to be a man and pay her bills, take her outings, provide cash for shopping and always give her undivided attention!!

A Nairobi woman is always carrying a huge handbag. Yes a huge one. She can unleash all she needs from this bag which can range from make-up kit, extra clothes, gumboots, rain coat, umbrella, changing shoes, perfume and many other things that we wish not to mention. She also stops at every place there is sale of shoes to fit shoes. So, on any of your days out, just don’t pass next to shoes stores and clothes stores! That is if you don’t want to be told ‘let me try these shoes out! They are so cute!’, ‘I really want these shoes, but I forgot my ATM!’  Or she will fit all the shoes in the stall and at the end; she won’t buy any of them. Just don’t blame anyone when this happens because now you know! Coming to think of it, the Nairobi Woman also wears a pair of heels when she knows that she will be walking around the city the whole day then comes complaining “oh my feet hurt” while leaning on your shoulder for support. She is just born this way. And when you get to know her, you will know how to date her well! Good luck!
