Africa Forward Summit: How Kenya Won the Mandate
On May 11, 2026, African leaders convened at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi and collectively agreed that Kenya would carry the continent’s brief to the G7 for a second year running. In Évian, Ruto held bilateral meetings with the leaders of India, Germany, and Ukraine. Six of the world’s fastest-growing economies are on the African continent, Ruto argued. The summit delivered eight official outcome documents covering debt reform mechanisms, critical minerals value addition, health system strengthening, digital inclusion, and provisions recognising Kiswahili in global digital platforms.

The eight outcome documents will be tabled at United Nations General Assembly sessions in September 2026 and at subsequent IMF and World Bank annual meetings.
