Mark two days on the health calendar: 18 and 19 August 2026. That is when Nairobi is slated to host the Kenya Health Summit, Capital FM reports, after Public Health PS Mary Muthoni pulled CEOs of health-sector corporations and other government agencies into a single prep room on Friday.
Her brief was coordination — one sector voice before national and county leaders, partners, private providers, professional bodies and civil society walk into the same hall. The topic list is already familiar from Kenya’s daily crises: UHC design, primary care, money, staffing, digital systems, domestic drug production, epidemic security and governance.
Compact or catalogue?
Ministry language points to a Joint Compact and Communiqué after the summit. Compacts matter only when they name owners, shillings and 90-day public milestones. Otherwise they join a shelf of unread communiqués while wards still ration gloves.
Counties must not be treated as audience members. They employ most clinical staff and run the facilities where SHA payments, strike notices and stockouts actually hit. Any roadmap that skips county CECs for health is cosplay reform.
