African Nazarene University is a private university in Kenya. Chartered in 2002 by the commission of higher education it offers a bachelor degree in mass communication. African Nazarene University has an up to date, state of the art technology that is well equipped to offer above average training to its students. It ensures that individuals who graduate have the necessary training to have successful careers in journalism. The training is provided in various departments that include;

  • Electronics
  • Print journalism
  • Public relation/corporate communication
  • Book publishing
  • Advertising

Admission criteria

The duration of the study takes up to 3 years with the option of enrolling for day or evening classes. However to qualify the following admission requirements should be satisfied by the applicant. They include;

  • Applicants should have attained a minimum grade of C+ grade or equivalent in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
  • The applicant should also have obtained at least a B- in English alone. The applicant should also have obtained at least a c+ in mathematics
  • The applicants are also required to undertake pre university tests offered at the African Nazarene university in which they are required to obtain a Minimum of 2.7 (B-) in order to qualify.
  • Individuals who have attained a c plain in KCSE are also eligible in the addition of certain credentials;

Diploma in fields such as journalism, public relations or a related field as long as they acquired a minimum of a credit in the said course.

  • Applicants with proficiency in typing (keyboard) and pass in foreign language (French, German, Japanese, Spanish) have an added advantage.

The fee stands at 750 us dollars per annum for those hailing in East Africa. Non- East Africans attract a fee charge of 1000 us dollars per annum. Subject to change from time to time
