CPA Professional Course In Kenya

Professional studies in Kenya have been taking the lead for decades as many employers are now employing professional graduates as compared to academic graduates. CPA (Certified Public Accounts) is the common professional course in Kenya. It is quite true that employers in Kenya prefer a section three student than a BCOM (accounting) graduate.

The government of Kenya has also endorsed CPA course as the preferred qualification required to hold public account office in Kenya. For a person to qualify for the public accounts officer position in Kenya, you must be a CPA (International) graduate. This fact has led to many students subscribing to this course in Kenya. You will be shocked that a student taking medicine course is still studying CPA. Many Kenya candidates after receiving their secondary certificates enrol for CPA. Even others in Kenya enroll before their KCSE results are out.

I guess in the near future, CPA will be part of Kenya’s curriculum in such a way that every graduate will be required  to have completed CPA before being honored as a degree graduate regardless of the field he/she has specialized in.

This demand has led the CPA examination body (KASNEB) heightening their qualifications and the examination. The CPA examination body in Kenya- KASNEB has also made CPA graduates more competitive in the world through the change of their syllabus to move from CPA(K) to CPA (International). To qualify for CPA registration and examinations, you need to have at least a mean grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in both Mathematics and English in secondary school KCSE results in Kenya. If you have done another course, KASNEB may also give you with exemptions depending with the course done.

The biggest challenge in exemptions by KASNEB in Kenya is that even after qualifying for exemptions you, may end up not attaining all the sections to be honored a CPA International holder. KASNEB examinations in Kenya call for serious students who will dedicate most of their time and give constant attention in 6 months time which is equivalent to one semester.

The college/university in Kenya that you choose to study in also contributes to your success or failure. You need qualified and experienced tutors of CPA in Kenya to prepare you before the examinations. There are few universities within Nairobi which are well known for equipping their students and producing most qualified ones. They include:

Strathmore University, Summit College, KCA University, Vision Institute of Professional Studies, Pinnacle School of Business, Zetech College among many others found within the city of Nairobi. If you have a plan to study CPA, you should consider enrolling in one of the above institutes where there are professionals to lecture you to success. Good luck in your studies.

The Kenya National Youth Service Branches In Kenya And NYS Mandate In Kenya

The National Youth Service in Kenya is a government of Kenya program that offers vocational training to the youths and young people in Kenya. Kenya National Youth Service in Nairobi instills a sense of self worth, patriotism as well as empowering the youth in Kenya to help in safeguard Kenya.

The National Youth Service in Nairobi was established soon after Kenya attained independence, in 1964 so as to train the youths in Kenya in various tasks of national importance. Some of the tasks trained in Kenya National Youth Service include; disaster response in Kenya, service in the Kenya armed forces as well as Kenya national reconstruction programs. Until the 1980’s enrolment into the National Youth Service in Kenya was compulsory for the Kenya high school graduates. However, rules became a bit relaxed, and it was no longer compulsory to enroll into the National Youth Service in Kenya after the 1980’s.

At this time, National Youth Service (N.Y.S) in Kenya became a place of solace for students who did not attain scores to get them into Universities in Kenya, or for those who could not raise the fee needed to enroll to universities in Kenya. Recently, parliament passed a unanimous bill that enrollment into the National Youth Service in Kenya should be made compulsory unlike in the earlier years when NYS in Kenya was particularly for the students in Kenya who did not excel so as to secure entry into high school and other tertiary institutions in Kenya.

On completion of high school studies in Kenya, the students, admitted into the public universities in Kenya through the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) in Kenya usually have to wait for close to two years before entry into university in Kenya. This is the proposed time when the students in Kenya are expected to enroll to the National Youth Service for training. This motion was moved by Senator Beatrice Elachi in Kenya affiliated to the Alliance Party of Kenya.

Location of National Youth Service offices in Kenya

The National Youth Service has its headquarters in Gilgil town, a town in the Rift Valley of Kenya. Gilgil Town in Kenya is located approximately 140 kilometers from Nairobi city in Kenya. There is also another National Youth Service branch found along the Thika superhighway in Nairobi. The two branches of the National Youth Service in Kenya have greatly helped to give a sense of direction to the many youths not enrolled in universities in Kenya.

How To Enroll For Courses In Kenya Universities

Kenya adopted the 8-4-4 system a few decades ago and up to now the system is still functional. In a few years, it was evident that only few students in Kenya made it to the university level. This trend has changed because almost every student in Kenya is qualifying to the university level with almost 70% admissions to both public and private universities within Kenya yearly. This has been triggered by high demand of jobs in Kenya hence every one now is trying to be competitive.

There are three types of university students in Kenya who are enrolled in both public and private universities in Kenya. The types of students in Kenya include: 1. The JAB (Joint Admissions Board in Kenya) admitted students 2.Those learning through the parallel degree program in Kenya 3.Those studying in private universities in Kenya.

For a student to be admitted to universities in Kenya through JAB, you have to attain the grade required by the Joint Admission Board in Kenya, this grade varies according to how the students have performed or on how much the public universities in Kenya can accommodate on that given year. Secondly, to do a parallel degree program in Kenya, you should have attained a minimum of C+ on your KCSE and a pass in Mathematics and English. Some universities in Kenya require a pass mark of C+ on those subjects and at least a C+ on one of the sciences. But most Kenya universities require a grade of C in those. It should be noted that some courses in Kenya might require a higher grade than the aforementioned ones. For example, to do a medicine course at university of Nairobi in Kenya, you need to have a minimum grade of B+.

It’s advisable to Kenyans that before you choose your degree to pursue in Kenya universities to first check the requirements in the particular universities offering the course in Kenya. This information can be checked from respective university website, catalogues or on the daily newspapers in Kenya. Thirdly, to enroll to a private university in Kenya for a degree course, requirements are much similar like the ones in the parallel degree program, although most universities in Kenya just require a minimum of C+ with an alternative of bridging the failed subjects. It’s all about money here to be honest.

If you have attained the requirements for the degree of your choice in Kenya, you can handpick the application forms from the institution or download from the university\\\’s website. After fillingthe application, you are required to pay a non-refundable application fee to the university which might range from 2500-5000 depending on your university of choice in Kenya. It usually does not take long before they get back to you. If your application has been accepted, you get informed on the day of admission to the university in Kenya. The fee structure of the university is also provided, although you can always check the fee from the website or the dailies before applying.
