Four Kenyan technology startups graduated from the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa programme on June 18, 2026, reinforcing Nairobi’s position as the continent’s most productive ground for AI-native entrepreneurship. Coamana, Duck, ReportsAI, and VunaPay were among just 15 companies selected from nearly 2,600 applications submitted across eight African countries.
Kenya Claims the Largest Country Contingent
The four Kenyan graduates were the single largest national group within the cohort. The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, now a decade old, offers participating companies equity-free support, substantial Google Cloud computing credits, direct mentoring from Google engineers, and access to a global alumni and investor network.
The Infrastructure Behind the Success
Kenya’s emergence as an AI startup powerhouse is not accidental. Decades of investment in mobile connectivity infrastructure — anchored by Safaricom’s M-Pesa ecosystem — created a digitally active population generating rich data that AI tools can learn from. Nairobi has attracted regional offices from Google, Microsoft, IBM, and international venture capital funds.
What Comes Next for the Graduates
Graduation from the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is historically a catalyst for accelerated growth. Previous cohort graduates have gone on to raise seed and Series A rounds from prominent investors and forge enterprise partnerships with multinationals operating across the continent.
