Moi University is one of the earliest Universities in Kenya. It is located in Eldoret town and was established after the University of Nairobi. This university was established in early 1984 by the act of parliament. Currently the university has expanded and has started campuses in various regions of Kenya. One of these campuses is Odera Okango Campus in Yala.

Odera Okango Campus of Moi University was founded in 2008. The campus is located in Yala Township along Kisusmu- Busia road 45 kilometers from Kisumu city. The campus offers academic programs that include short courses, certificate, and diploma, undergraduate as well as postgraduates programs
