How to Use YouTube as a source of Online Income in Kenya

Many Kenyans face unemployment due to various reasons. The unemployed largest percentage is the youths who try and find other alternative source of income. Most of them usually join bad groups and attempt bad deeds. However, the bright youths through the advancement of technology have sorted online employment through blogging, article writing, data entry jobs and many more jobs available through the internet.

Fortunately, the common video streaming site, YouTube has also introduced a form of employment in which the people and users can earn revenue off the video they upload. It requires some form of setup which is described below:

Firstly, you should set up and build your YouTube channel which is your personal presence on this site. Each YouTube account has one channel attached to it. The YouTube account is the same as the Google account and creating a YouTube account will grant you access to other Google products such as Gmail and Drive. You can create a new account or use your existing one. However, you should add keywords by navigating to the advanced section of the channel setting. Your username can also work for or against you. If it’s short, easy to remember, and original, people will be more apt to remember you.

Secondly, you need to add content that is of high quality and which is not super long. You should also try and be uploading content regularly and consistently. Even if your first videos are not perfect, try to improve them as you proceed. Improving content can be done by either using a better camera or trying to edit through different techniques. By uploading regularly, you can help hold an audience. People are more likely to subscribe if you add content on a regular schedule and maintain that schedule as much as possible. Try to tag those videos with an eye catching description as this will help drive people to your videos from the searches.

Thirdly, build an audience in order to increase monetization. You need people to watch your videos in order to make any money off them. There is no secret to getting more subscribers, just make the best content that you can and they will come to you through watching these high quality videos. Building your audience can also be done by hooking and sending videos not only to YouTube but to other sites such as Twitter and Facebook which will make people know about you. You should also interact with your viewers and subscribers by responding to their comments and making of occasional videos directly related to viewers’ comments and questions. Connecting with your community will bring more people to join your community on YouTube.

Fourthly, you need to monetize your video or contents in order to start earning money on the content you upload to YouTube. Monetization means that you allow YouTube to place ads in your content and also that there is no copyright material in your video. To monetize a video as it uploads, click the monetization tab and check the “monetize with ads” box. You can as well monetize after the video has been uploaded by opening the video manager and click the $ sign next to the video that you want to monetize.

Fifthly, to receive any revenue that you make from your videos, you need to set up Google AdSense for free at the Google AdSense website. Click the sign up button to begin creating your account. However, you must be 18 years or older to create an account but the young ones can create their own accounts but with assistance from an adult. Therefore, you need either PayPal or a bank account and a valid email address so AdSense can verify who you are and who to send the money to. Money is gained only per ad click and a smaller amount per view but it adds up with time which is the sole reason of having a larger audience.

Lastly, you should market your videos elsewhere not only in YouTube. You can even start a blog for sharing as the more views it gets, the better and through that you gain more money. For more access to other important tools, you need to become a YouTube partner. This are members who have monetized videos with a large number of viewers. They therefore gain more access to more content creation tools, and can win prizes for the number of viewers they have. You can apply for partnership at any time through the partner page. However, you need to have a 15,000 cumulative watch hours for your channel over the last 90 days in order to successfully be a YouTube partner.

Campus Challenges in Kenya

Campus students are experiencing a lot of hardships throughout the entire period of their education. Many students are forced to quit schooling as they cannot endure the continuous challenges that occur in their daily lives in campus. New students should find a better way of dealing with the following major challenges.

High Rental Costs

Self sponsored students are charged huge costs by landlords making it very difficult for them to cope up with the high cost of living. The challenge can be overcome by simply one sharing costs with a friend or someone that can be trusted. The sharing ensures that some money is saved which can later be used to do some other constructive projects.

Sexual Harassment

A lot of campus students are sexually harassed by being forced into harmful sexual activities in exchange for money and other favors from the lecturers. It is therefore advisable that any student that experiences such a case to develop the offenders so that they can be subjected to law and face punishment. Furthermore, allowing oneself to succumb to hardships of sexual harassment exposes one to high risks of getting the dreaded HIV and AIDS disease.

Peer pressure

Social interaction amongst students makes it hard for the weak ones to cope with the pressure that comes from their students. It has come to the realization that majority of campus students join the intuitions as innocent people that later get spoiled by trying to adapt lifestyles that are beyond their control. It’s good for one to be principled and avoid being influenced easily by others.

Drug Abuse

A lot of campus students end up abusing various kinds of drugs that later makes them quit school. Many students end up being desperate such that they venture into drug business as a way of escaping challenges. The deal is often dangerous as it will make someone face the law authorities and even suffer long term jail sentence. It is advisable for counselors to help students know the dangerous effects of drugs and avoid abusing them.

Theft

Campus is a place in which people from different backgrounds meet together for the purposes of acquiring knowledge. However; the difference in social classes makes the less disadvantaged groups of the place try to cope up with the lifestyle hence end up stealing from their collegues. Many students lose a lot of property that is expensive to acquire another. It is therefore advisable for one to be careful on how they expose their assets.
