Accredited in 1970 to offer degree programs, Nairobi University is a public university in Kenya. It has been chartered by the commission of higher education in 2013 to offer a degree in humanities and Art. The students have a wide range of options in departmental training that include;

 

  • History and archaeological studies
  • Literature
  • Linguistics
  • Arabic
  • Korean culture
  • German studies
  • Kiswahili
  • Confucius
  • Philosophy and religious studies
  • Political science and public administration
  • Communication skills and studies
  • French
  • Library and information services

 

Admission criteria

To qualify to pursue a degree program in Arts and humanities, there are certain requirements that the university has put in place for individuals. For the student to be eligible he/she should have attained;

  • At least KCSE (Mean C+) and C+ passes in each of the four cluster subjects: Mathematics, Physics, geography and history
  • Or any Group III, IV and V; or Advanced Level Certificate: Two principal passes in Mathematics and Physics with subsidiary pass in physical sciences
  • Or an ordinary Diploma from a recognized institution with Credit Passes in the relevant subjects; or
  • Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution with passes in relevant subjects; or
  • Technical/Science Diploma from a recognized institution with Credit Passes in Mathematics and geography from a recognized institution; or bachelor degree from a recognized institution;
  • Individuals with professional certificates are also eligible for application

The duration of the course takes 4 years with the student required to complete 56 units. The cost stands at Ksh.27000 statutory fee while privately sponsored students attract a fee of 120,000 shillings per annum.
