Services Available Within The Moi International Sports Complex In Kasarani, Nairobi Kenya

The Moi International Sports Centre in Kenya was constructed in 1987 by the Kenyan government in partnership with the Chinese government. Kenya had been invited to bid for the hosting of African games which were to be held in the late 80’s. On submitting the bid, Kenyan won and as such, the 4th African Games were to be held in Kenya. Kenya then entered into a bilateral agreement with the Chinese government to build a sports stadium in Nairobi that would comfortably house this prestigious game event. The sports stadium in Kenya was intended to be of international standards and one of the best in the African continent.

The African Games which were held in August 1987 filled the 60,000 capacity of Moi International Sports Stadium to the brim. Earlier on athletics in Kenya were usually held at the Coca Cola stadium in Nairobi. The Moi International Sports Centre is located in Kasarani along the Thika Superhighway, approximately 12 kilometers from Nairobi City Centre.

The Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi has a capacity of 60,000 seated people, with several VIP lounges and hospitality suites. The Kasarani Stadium facilities in Kenya are equipped with press/media areas, modern Changing Rooms, offices, Mini-shops, and Restaurants. There are internet connections and a hot spot installed in strategic positions in Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi. There are also 6 conference rooms in Kasarani Grand Stadium in Nairobi, each with a capacity of 60 people.

The hotel in Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi offers services such as a 200 seater restaurant with an adjacent 60 seater grill room, over 100 rooms each equipped with television sets, a sports bar, a ball room, seminar rooms, a swimming pool as well as a poolside bar.

There is an indoor state of the art arena with the capacity to hold at least 5000 people in Kasarani Sports centre in Nairobi. The indoor arena has presidential suites, a snack bar as well as a restaurant all in an idyllic and serene environment inside Moi International Sports Centre.

Kasarani Aquatic Stadium has one warm baby pool and an Olympic sized pool in Nairobi complete with diving platforms and a spring board. There is also one recreational seminar room in the Kasarani Aquatic Stadium with a VIP lounge and a 30 person`s capacity.
