Kenya Institute of Professional Studies is an institution of higher learning which offers Diploma Courses and certificates which are locally and internationally recognized. This tertiary institution is located in the Central Business District of Nairobi along Tom Mboya Street in Afya Center Building. It is registered to the Ministry of Education as educational and training institute. This institution was established in 1994 and since then, its programmes have been validated be the commission of Higher Education.

KIPS therefore ensure that the courses they offer will place the student in a better place in the competitive job market and also enable them to further their studies in recognized universities after the successful completion of their Diploma or certificates in KIPS. They ensure that they have variety of courses and these courses are grouped into different schools which comprise of departments. KIPS have Departments which include:

Department of Business Studies which have Diploma courses under it and include Diploma in Business Banking, Business Management, International Relations, Sales and Marketing, Purchasing and Supply Management, Clearing and Forwarding, Marketing, Advertising and PR as well as Human Resource Management.

Community Development in yet another department and offers courses in this area of expertise and include Community Health, Project Management, Counselling Psychology and Community Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Development and an Advanced Diploma in Project Management. This department in KIPS also offer short courses which involve HIV/AIDS Management, Trauma Counselling, Fire Safety and First Aid, Stress Management, Drug and Substance Addiction Counselling, Adolescent Counselling and Project and Proposal Planning writing.

Health and Applied Sciences is a department in KIPS which is the smallest but offer strong courses such as Diploma in Medical Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry and HIV/AIDS Management. It also offer certificate courses in Medical Laboratory and HIV/AIDS Management.

Hospitality and Catering is a department on its own which do not offer certificate courses but only offer Diploma courses in Hotel and Catering Management, Food and Beverage Management, Hotel Front Office Operations, Food preparations and Culinary Arts and House Keeping and Accommodation Studies.

Information Technology a department which offer various Diploma in ICT, IT, Computer Engineering, Networking and International Driving License (ICDL). It also have certificates in CCNA, MCSE, MCITP, A+ and N+ and in their presence also offer short courses such as Computerized Secretarial, Computerized Accountancy, Computerized Tours and Travel, Graphic Design, e-commerce and Web Design.

Journalism and Media Studies is a department which offer Diploma Courses in Journalism and Media Studies, Media Techniques- Radio Journalism and certificate in Media Techniques-Radio/TV production, Radio Production and Presentation and Video Production.

Tour and Travel department offers variety of courses in the travel and tour area for Diploma in Travel and Tourism, Cabin Crew/Air Hostess, Airport Management, Air Cargo Services and Tour Guiding and Administration with no certificate courses offered in this department.

Secretarial Department is another department which composes the KIPs fraternity and offers only Diploma courses in Front Office and Customer Care, Secretarial Studies, Switchboard and Telephone Operations as well as Higher Diploma in Secretarial Management.

Languages and Foreign Tests department is the final department of KIPS and offer language lessons of English, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, French and German. This department also ensure that it has conducted foreign tests to the students in form of TOEFL, GMAT and SAT
