Many Kenyans are now educated as compared to the time Kenya attain independence. There are also many institutions in place in Kenya that train people in various areas. Since there have been many people enrolled for undergraduate programmes in institutions across the country (Kenya), there is increase need for specialization because Kenya is now having many undergraduates who have general knowledge in their area of specialization.

Therefore there is need for people to specialize in various aspects of their undergraduate programmes so as to increase the production level in their work places. The only way of specializing is by doing postgraduate programmes which is an advancement of undergraduate programmes. Rongo University college which is a constituent college of Moi University is one of the accredited institutions in Kenya that offers the postgraduate programmes at various areas of specialization at postgraduate diploma, masters and doctor of philosophy (PhD level).

The postgraduate programmes which are offered by Rongo University College are:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relation.

  • Executive Masters in Education Leadership and Policy Studies.

  • Masters of Education in Education Leadership and Policy Studies.

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA Executive).

  • Master in Business Management.

  • Masters in Information Technology (IT).

  • Masters in Communication and Journalism.

  • Masters in Communication and Public Relation.

  • Masters of Arts (with specialization in History, Kiswahili, English, Religion, Linguistics, Sociology, Literature and Geography).

  • Doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Communication Studies.

The postgraduate diploma programmes takes duration of one year, master takes two years while doctor of philosophy (PhD) course takes three years. The intake for these programmes is done three times every year. They (intakes) take place in January, April and September. These programmes are offered on weekend and part time basis.
