Masinde Muliro University of science and technology (MMUST) is among the public universities in Kenya and is located in western Kenya, Kakamega town which is a town that is located 57 km from Kisumu town and 42 km from Webuye town. Since Masinde Muliro University is a chartered university in Kenya and also ISO certified, it offers courses in various fields from certificate to doctor of philosophies programmes. Such courses include disaster, education, science, information technology and engineering.

The minimum requirement for one to apply for any programme in Masinde Muliro University various from the certificate programme to Ph.D programme. For one to pursue certificate programme in MMUST, he/she should have attained a minigrade of C- (minus) at Kenya certificate of secondary education (KCSE). Diploma programmes require a C (plain) at KCSE or a certificate in the respective courses and should be from an institution that is recognized by MMUST senate. The degree programmes require one to have attained a minimum of C+ (plus) at KCSE or a diploma in the course applied for and should also be from an institution that is recognised by MMUST senate.

For those who wish to pursue masters programmes in MMUST, they should have bachelor degree with 2nd class honors upper division in the relevant field, bachelor degree with 2ndhonors lower division in the relevant field with at least two years’ experience or bachelor degree with a postgraduate diploma in a relevant field. If you want to apply for doctor of philosophy programme in MMUST, you must have master’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university in a relevant area of study.

Application for the programmes offered by Masinde Muliro University can be done by downloading the application form from the university website at www.mmust.ac.ke or you can obtain the application form from the MMUST main campus which is located in Kakamega town. The application forms can also be obtained from other campuses of Masinde Muliro University and study centres. The campuses include Bungoma campus, Ebunangwe campus and Webuye campus. The study centres of MMUST include Nairobi Kingsway tyres, Sang’alo, Kaimosi, Bukura, Mt.Elgon,Mumias and Nambale centres.

The non refundable fees paid for diploma, and certificate is kshs.500, bachelor degrees is kshs.1000 while masters and doctor of philosophies programmes is kshs.3000.All dully completed application forms must be accompanied by a non refundable fee bankers cheque or deposit slip as per above programmes undertaken and should be payable at National Bank of Kenya account number 010037055400 for undergraduate students (certificate, diploma and degree programmes) and family Bank account number 78992536 for postgraduate programmes(postgraduate diploma, masters and doctor of philosophies programmes).

Dully completed application forms should be returned to the Director PSSP MMUST P.O Box 190-50100 kakamega. They can also be delivered at all MMUST campuses and study centers. For more information, you can go to www.mmust.ac.ke.
