Courses Offered At The Technical University Of Kenya School Of Computing And Information Technology

Technological knowledge is pivotal in today’s fast paced world. Communication networks have made it possible for people to keep in touch with each other no matter where they are in terms of location. As technology grows, it is important that Kenyans keep up with the growth pattern. The Technical University of Kenya provides the chance for students to learn various aspects of computing and information technology. The university provides different courses under the School of Computing and Information Technology.

School of Computing and information Technology Courses:

Bachelor of Technology

The kenya Technical University offers Bachelor of Technology in the following options:

  • Computer Technology
  • Information Technology
  • Communication and Computer Networks

Individuals who want to pursue Bachelor of Technology in kenya should have obtained a minimum of KCSE mean grade of C+ with C+ in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Group III/IV/V. Individuals who have obtained a TUK Diploma in Technology or an equivalent qualification should also apply. The course takes 9 semesters and the tuition fee is Ksh 70,000 per semester.

Apart from the Bachelor course, the university offers certificate courses under the School of computing and Information Technology. These are:

Certificate in Computer Technology

Individuals who want to pursue Certificate in Computer Technology should have obtained a minimum of KCSE mean grade of D+ with at least a D+ in Maths, Physics, English or Physical Science. The course takes two semesters with each semester costing Ksh 24,000.

Certificate in Information Technology

Individuals applying for the Certificate in Information Technology course should meet certain requirements. Individuals should have obtained a minimum of KCSE mean grade of D+ with at least a D- in Maths/Physics. It is a two semester course that costs Ksh 24,000 per semester.

Certificate in Computer Hardware, Software and Network Support Technology

Individuals wishing to pursue Certificate in Computer Hardware, software and Network Support Technology should have obtained a minimum of KCSE mean grade of D+ with at least D+ in English, Maths and Physics or Physical Science. Those with KCE Division II with Credits or a Certificate from TUK or an equivalent qualification are also welcome to apply for the course.
