Chuka University is a kenya peivate university that offers a four-year study course in Bachelor of Commerce. The degree course is aimed at preparing Kenyan students for management careers in both the public and private sectors. Apart from students taking the general commerce study in the first and second year, the course offers specialization in:

  • Accounting
  • Banking and Finance
  • Cooperative Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing
  • Management Science

Students in the third year and fourth year of study are expected to select an area of specialization from the listed options of study.

Bachelor of Commerce Admission Criteria

Individuals who wish to undertake the Bachelor of Commerce degree should meet the following requirements:

  • Individuals should have obtained the minimum common University entry requirements of at least KCSE mean grade of C+
  • Additionally, those who have obtained the common entry requirements should meet the minimum cut-off points from one of the following four cluster of subjects:

Cluster one: English or Kiswahili

Cluster two: History and Government/ Geography/ Christian Religious Education/ social Education and Ethics/ Hindu Religious Education/ Islamic Religious Education/ Mathematics

Cluster three: biology or Biological Sciences/ Chemistry or Physics/ Physical Sciences or,

Cluster four: Accounts/ Commerce or Economics

  • Individuals should obtain a grade of C (plain) in Mathematics
  • Individuals who have obtained a pass in a bridging course in mathematics are also eligible to undertake the course
  • Individuals who have acquired CPA II can also apply
  • Individuals who are Diploma holders in a related field of study such as Banking, finance, Agribusiness, Marketing are also welcome to apply

Individuals applying for the Bachelor of Commerce course may be allowed to transfer credits from a Diploma or Degree course from a recognized institution. This will be done based on individual merit.
