Chuka University is a fully chartered public university in Kenya and is located in Chuka town along Nairobi Meru highway. This university (Chuka) is approximately 187 kilometers from Nairobi city. The university was a former constituent college of Egerton university in Kenya and it was called Chuka University College. Chuka University in Kenya became a fully chartered public university in Kenya on 8th January, 2013 and was awarded by the former president of the republic of Kenya His Excellence Hon. Mwai Kibaki.

The university of Chuka main campus has grown gradually in terms of academic since it received its charter as a functioning university and now has a population of about 9000 students. The university main campus offers undergraduate programmes in various fields and has only five faculties;

  • Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental studies.
  • Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
  • Faculty of Business studies.
  • Faculty of Education and Human resource development.
  • Faculty of Health sciences.

The undergraduate courses offered by the Chuka University main campus in the faculty of Agriculture and environmental studies includes;

  • B.Sc. Ecotourism and Hospitality management.
  • Bachelor of Tourism and Hotel management.
  • Bachelor of Catering and Hotel management.
  • B.Sc. Wildlife Enterprise and management.
  • B.Sc. Animal Science.
  • B.Sc. Agriculture.
  • B.Sc. Environmental Science.
  • B.Sc. Natural Resource Management.
  • B.Sc. Horticulture.

In the faculty of arts and humanities, the undergraduate programmes offered by the Chuka university main campus are:

  • B.A communication and Media.
  • B.A Economic and Sociology.
  • B.A Criminology and Security studies.
  • B.A Community Development.
  • B.A Library and Information studies.

The only course that is offered in the faculty of health sciences is B.Sc. Nursing while in the faculty of business studies, they include:

  • B.Sc. Economics and Statistics.
  • Bachelor of Agribusiness Management.
  • B.Sc. Agricultural Economics.
  • Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Small business management.
  • Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies management.
  • Bachelor of Commerce (with options in human resource management, accounting, banking and finance, marketing, management science, insurance and risk management and cooperative management).

In the faculty of education and human resource development, the courses offered by the Chuka university main campus are;

  • B.Ed. primary (with options in mathematics, science and agriculture).
  • B.Ed. Arts (school based).
  • B.Ed. Science.
  • B.Sc. Agricultural Education and Extension.
  • Bachelor of Psychology.
