Moi University is one of the oldest universities in Kenya which has been able to develop and open branches all over the country as it expands to provide high quality education to Kenyan and international students. It has been able to offer most of the best courses in the world such as Law, Medicine, Aviation and Nursing which could earlier not be found in other Kenyan universities and institutions of higher learning. Moi University has some of the most essential facilities that students require for their studies. The major facilities they offer can be the world class library services that ensure that students have all the studying materials that they need for research and knowledge.
From that, Moi University established a school of Aerospace Science which offer Aviation related courses enabling it to produce the best pilots who develop successful careers. The school is located at the Rivatex East Africa Ltd compound, a facility of Moi University located along Eldoret – Kapsabet road which is 2km away from Eldoret CBD. This is the first school in East and Central Africa to teach students Aerospace Sciences. The school has been inspected by Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) for registration as an Aviation Training Organization (ATO). The school has collaborated with the East Africa School of Aviation (EASA) and Oklahoma State University.
The school of Aerospace Science was developed from 2009 and they have been able to teach students to be good pilots and others who develop successful aviation careers from the knowledge they have been able to acquire from the school. The school offer a four year Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Science and Operations Degree Programme. The programme is designed to provide students with an opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in Aviation Basic and Advanced principles and procedures. In addition the students receive instructions in Mathematics, Physics and other courses chosen for applicability to Aerospace field.
The students in this degree program also takes a course in Aviation Safety and Aviation Management and may pursue them to the Postgraduate level. It equips the student with adequate knowledge and skills in aviation as a professional pilot leading to acquiring Private Pilot License (PPL) and Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) offered by Kenya Civil Aviation authority. Furthermore, a student takes a course in Aviation Safety and Aviation Management and may pursue to Postgraduate level.
Admission Requirements to BSc in Aerospace Science and Operations (option in Professional Pilot)
The interested students should have attained a Minimum Grade of C+ in KCSE or its equivalents recognized by Moi University Senate and have a minimum of C+ (Plus) in Mathematics, C+ (Plus) in Physics, C+ (Plus) in English and C+ (Plus) in Geography/Chemistry.
The candidate must be a holder of Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education with two principals and one subsidiary and two of the principal subjects must be any two of Mathematics Physics or Geography/Chemistry or its equivalents from institutions recognized by the university senate. In addition, the candidate should have at least Credit four in English at O level. The candidates is also required to meet the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) requirements for the Pilot Licenses.

Application for PSSP programme can be made through the Dean’s office upon a non-refundable processing fee of Ksh 1000. The full completed application downloaded for the university website and the photocopies of relevant academic qualification should be addressed and returned to the Schools Dean’s office together with all the required accompanying documents.
