One of the most interesting thing in the field of information sciences is when you publish an interesting article that attracts people who then read it and appreciate you work. We have read many books written by different authors and this is after it has been published by certain companies.

There is another category of information called information technology that deals with establishment of website which enables people to seek information from well established and maintained websites. When you want to pursue a career in information and publishing sector, then Moi University is a very nice place for you because it has facilities for training students in various fields of information including journalism.

All these courses are offered in the school of information science at the Moi University. This school is currently managed by Prof. Japeth Otike who is the dean. It is one of the oldest school in Moi University and was established in 1988, just four years after Moi University was formed (in 1984) as the third public university in Kenya. The school of information sciences hosts the university radio station which acts as the training facility for students pursuing journalism and other media related programmes in the university. It has three departments:

  • Department of Library, Records management and Information Studies.
  • Department of Information Technology.
  • Department of Publishing and Media Studies.

The courses or programmes offered at this school ranges from bachelors to doctor of philosophy (Ph.D). The diploma programmes offered at the school of information science in Moi University include:
