Courses Offered At Kenyatta University School Of Economics

Kenyatta University is well versed in offering various courses that are geared to enable students to prepare to enter into the job market either as part of the workforce or as entrepreneurs. The School of Economics is the focal point for all other departments that offer Economics courses. It oversees Economic courses from the School of Education, the School of Business and the School of Engineering. Individuals who wish to undertake courses from the School of Economics will do so over a four year academic period. There are several courses offered under the School of Economics. These are:

Bachelor of Economics

Individuals who want to undertake Bachelor of Economics should have obtained the following qualifications:

  • Individuals should have obtained a minimum of KSCE mean grade of C+ (plus).
  • Individuals who want to pursue the degree course should have acquired at least a grade of C+ in Physics/Chemistry/Biology, English/Kiswahili, a Humanity or a Commercial subject.
  • In addition, individuals who want to apply for the course should have obtained at least the grade of B- (minus).
  • Individuals who have obtained A-level qualifications or an equivalent qualification will also be considered for admission as long as they obtain at least two principals and credit in Mathematics.

Bachelor of Economics and Statistics

Kenyatta University offers Bachelor of Economics and Statistics under the School of Economics. Individuals should have the following qualifications:

  • Individuals should have obtained a minimum of KSCE mean grade of C+ (plus).
  • Individuals who want to pursue the degree course should have acquired at least a grade of C+ in Physics/Chemistry/Biology, English/Kiswahili, a Humanity or a Commercial subject.
  • In addition, individuals who want to apply for the course should have obtained at least the grade of B- (minus).
  • Individuals who have obtained A-level qualifications or an equivalent qualification will also be considered for admission as long as they obtain at least two principals and credit in Mathematics.

Bachelor of Economics and Finance

Individuals who want to undertake Bachelor of Economic and Finance should have obtained:

  • Individuals should have obtained a minimum of KSCE mean grade of C+ (plus).
  • Individuals who want to pursue the degree course should have acquired at least a grade of C+ in Physics/Chemistry/Biology, English/Kiswahili, a Humanity or a Commercial subject.
  • In addition, individuals who want to apply for the course should have obtained at least the grade of B- (minus).
  • Individuals who have obtained A-level qualifications or an equivalent qualification will also be considered for admission as long as they obtain at least two principals and credit in Mathematics.

Individuals who are accepted into the School of Economics will be required to undertake all the relevant units as stipulated by the department. They will also be required to undertake continuous assessment tests and final examinations as well as relevant research studies and attachments.
