Kirinyaga University College is one of the constituent college of the well-established Kenyan university, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) which was established and have been recently developing due to the high demand of education in Kenya. This is one of the universities that admits students from different parts of the country and both government Sponsored and Self Sponsored.

It is located on the slopes of Mt. Kenya thereby enjoys the pleasant environment which provides the most conducive environment for studies. The university has different schools and departments some of which include the School of Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Built Environment, Business and Economics, Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, Pure and Applied Science as well as the school of Health Sciences. These schools in this university offer the different courses all of which have different admission requirements and criteria.

The school of Business and Economics hosts several Undergraduate, Diploma and certificate courses which are related to the field of business. The courses according to their levels differ in their criteria of admission. The courses according to criteria are as follows;

Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management and B.sc in Entrepreneurship are all undergraduate courses offered in the School of Business and Economics which have same specific admission requirements. The qualifications for the enrollment of this courses are a minimum of a C+ (Plus) at KCSE with a minimum of C (Plain) in both Mathematics and English or a Mean Grade of C-(Minus) at KCSE with a Diploma or Professional certificate in a relevant discipline from an institution recognized by the University senate. The other requirements that is required for the courses is the tuition fee of Ksh 63,000 for semester one and Ksh 56,000 for semester two.

Diploma courses are also offered under the School of Business and Economics and are numerous with variety of skills. They include Diploma in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource Management as well as a Diploma in Public Relations. The admission criteria for the enrollment of any off the Diploma courses in the School of Business and Economics is a minimum of Mean Grade of C- (Minus) or a Mean Grade of D+ (Plus) or equivalent with a credit pass in any relevant certificate course. The tuition fee for any of the diploma courses is Ksh 18,000 for semester one and semester two.

Kirinyaga University College also offer certificate courses for the students who are interested in the certificate courses offered in the various fields. They include Certificate in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management and a certificate in Public Relation. The certificate courses are offered in full time or in the evening and weekend basis. The minimum qualification for the certificate courses are a Mean grade of D+ (Plus) at KCSE and tuition fee of Ksh 23,763 which is payable once till the completion of the certificate course.

Being a well-established institution of higher learning, many of the people around who are interested in education also may like to learn for several professional studies. This has made the university college to offer professional studies such as CPA I, II, III, ATC I, II as well as CICT I which are offered as either in Fulltime or evening and weekend basis. The requirements for the courses are a pass in the previous stage of the related course. The amount of fee required is Ksh 12,000 per section in CPA and ATC and Ksh 15,920 for CICT.
